Clean Living

My switch to clean beauty

I was working with my amazing health coach, Snezana, when I first heard about clean beauty.  I was using my drug store make-up, basic face soap, Cetaphil face lotion, and the oh-so-delicious smelling Bath and Body works shower gel.  I wasn’t educated on the harmful ingredients- sulfates, parabens, fragrences that were in each of these products.  The same products I was using multiple times per day.

Snezana educated me on how to fuel my body well, and to take a holistic approach for all aspects of my life- cleaning supplies, food, beauty products, clothing, etc.  It was SO eye-opening to me that there were many chemicals in my home.  The even more eye-opening statistic was that the U.S. has not passed a major federal law governing the cosmetics industry since 1938- that’s over 80 years.  The European Union has banned or restricted 1,400 INGREDIENTS from personal care products. The United States has banned or restricted only 30—and to me, that’s simply not good enough.  After googling, researching, talking to others in the wellness space, I stumbled upon Beautycounter.

I was intrigued.  Their bold statement, “One by one, we are leading a movement to a future where all beauty is clean beauty. We are powered by people, and our collective mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. Formulate, advocate, & educate—that’s our motto for creating products that truly perform while holding ourselves to unparalleled standards of safety. Why? It’s really this simple: beauty should be good for you,” caught my eye.  I decided to make my first purchase- Counter+ No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil (to combat dry skin) and the Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing (HOLY GRAIL) Peel.  I was hooked.

After using the products and loving them, I decided to join the Beautycounter team.  It’s a decision I thought long and hard about.  I knew I wanted to continue to promote safer beauty-I was sharing the products I loved on my IG, why not get paid while doing so? The worry I had was people judging me for joining.  That negative mindset stopped me from making additional revenue, meeting new people, and making new connections.  I finally took the leap and I haven’t looked back since (more on this later).

I made the switch to clean to improve what I was putting both in and on my body. I feel good about using ingredients that don’t contain harmful chemicals.  I love sharing these products with my family (and children one day).  It’s important to me for health reasons that I choose clean.  Navigating through years of gut issues, anxiety, and depression, this entire holistic lifestyle has improved them all.  It helps me daily and continues to make me the best person I can be.

Cheers to clean.
